Starting this year, the Beta Rho chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity will be awarding three scholarships to incoming freshman men who embody the core value of our chapter: to Excel with Honor. This simple four-word phrase is applicable to all aspects of one’s life at Penn, and by following it, one truly becomes a gentleman and a scholar. We believe in honoring those new students who have already shown tremendous progress in this regard.
In collectively naming these awards the Zane Grey Scholarship, we pay tribute to one of our first brothers, a man who had a great impact not only on Penn’s community, but also on an entire genre of literature. Zane Grey is widely credited as the father of the modern western, and he also had respectable careers in dentistry and minor league baseball. In offering these to worthy freshmen, we seek to give back to a community that has already given us so much. We’ve been at Penn for over twelve decades, two houses, and over 1600 brothers. None of this would be possible in the absence of the University community.
To apply for one of three scholarships, please fill out this brief form. For any questions, please contact our Scholarship Chair, Michael Schwoerer, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
(Although this scholarship is sponsored by the Sigma Nu Fraternity, applying does not obligate you to join our fraternity, or any other Penn Greek organization.)
